Water, water hardness, pH and feeds

Water

For indoor applications grow more if you are growing in soil or hydroponics, the Tap water is the best water to feed their plants. Excess chlorine sometimes associated with tap water can be dissipated by the position of the water in a container open to air for a couple of hours before use (12-24 hours). Sometimes excessive chlorine can cause leaves to turn and twist out of shape, so we advise to allow his water to stand before adding to your system or irrigation.

Apart from the excess chlorine, tap water is excellent for use. Whether hard or soft water, clean, Errors and free of bacteria and should not give any problem in growth. Do not use deionized or distilled water and always choose tap water over rain or well water.

The pH of tap water can vary from 5,5 to 8,5. For practical purposes, the lower the pH of the water softer and the higher the pH the harder the water. Chlorine is also added affects the pH, so let it clear before the test. Before adjusting the pH, add any food necessary because this can also affect the pH.

Soft Water

Soft water generally has a low pH due to low amounts of bicarbonates of calcium and other atoms "light" and ions in the water. You can use the pH of your tap water as a guide when choosing whether to use a soft or hard water supply hydroponics. If the pH is between 5.5 and 7.7 below, the water is not hard enough for hard water feeds and you should use only soft water or universal feeding.

Soft water feeds usually does not affect the pH of the solution nutritional makeup, so some pH adjustment may be necessary to get the full nutrient solution pH 6. Phosphoric acid is generally used for small pH down adjustments and potassium hydroxide used for small to pH adjustment. A small pipette or two can be useful, since they only require small quantities.

Universal formulation of food and nutrients and Genesis Aqua Canna work well in any water, although these and other sources universal affect the pH of solution to make up. These foods cause a slight reduction in pH, which hinders their use in very soft water. Canna Aqua seems particularly susceptible to the problems of difficult or very low water and as a result only recommend using it if you have a midrange hardness water.

Soft water feeds – Link Vita (SW) Canna substrates (SW), Optimum (SW), GH Flora (SW), ionic (SW), Formulex.
Universal feeds – Europonic, Aqua Paradise, Nutrients Genesis.

Hard water

The bicarbonates of calcium and light more "other" atoms in the water, the "harder" is and usually higher the pH. For purposes of hydroponic nutrients, hard water is supplied only for people with very hard water with a FC 8 (total 500 ppm) or more and a pH of about 7.8 or higher. If the tap water pH is below 7.8 then use soft water or universal feed and adjust the pH of the final solution to about 6 using some pH down.

Hard Water Food does not affect the pH of the final solution and therefore save any pH adjustment until after feeding he added. Because the hard water has a high pH, and a hard water supply automatically drop the pH of the solution and reduce the amount of pH even necessary.

Hard water feeds – Canna substrates (HW), Optimum (HW), GH Flora (HW), Ionic (HW), Vita Link (HW).
Universal Feed – Europonic, Aqua Paradise, Nutrients Genesis.

pH adjustment

Not adjusting the pH of the water or food solutions for soil or compost.

When hydroponic growth in bright, we must be sure that the nutrients in the solution are readily available for absorption by the roots. That means keeping the pH of the nutrient solution from a range of about 5.5 to 6.5. In recirculating hydroponic systems, all new relations solutions within this range. The pH generally increasing in the coming days but avoid adjust the pH every day, even if it goes slightly out of range. Adding too much acid (PH down) is much worse for the plant to be slightly outside the range of pH optimum.

If you are using a lot of acid to reduce pH, but water is not quite enough to feed hard water, you may want to consider using nitric acid as a pH on vegetative growth. This affects the solution less of phosphoric acid but more is needed. Also try to change the next harvest to feed a universal channel, which will help keep the pH of the solution below and in the buffer.

Plaque pH

Rockwool – For the first days of growth on plates cubesor rock wool, rock wool pH lead solution until he calms down. Dive plates for 24 hours in a solution of pH 5.5 (with the appropriate concentration in the original food) to help stabilize the slab just before use.

Water and food for the soil / compost mix

De-chlorinated tap water is the best choice of water. The rain and water Well you can use but not recommend it and deionized or distilled water should never be used. With the buffering capacity of soil and the greater the range of pH and different availability of nutrients in the soil environment, adjusting the pH of the solutions of water or food is not necessary and only adds un-necessary elements for water and feed.

Therefore there is hard water and soft water feeds the soil, only systems that work well in all types of water.

Bio-Bizz nutrients – these are 100% biological, natural and a popular game with the All-Mix compost.

Canna Terra – This mineral-based food is a clear solution and ideal for systems automated irrigation unlike most other nutrients from the soil to prevent pumps and lines. It also provides excellent performance and quality in any soil or situation compost.
